Learn the basics and create an action plan in one day
CSBA’s Education Workforce Housing Bootcamp is a one-day, in-person training designed for school board members, superintendents, and senior administrators interested in workforce housing but who have not yet taken formal steps to explore a project. This bootcamp will guide local education agencies (LEAs) through the initial stages of exploration.
Participants will walk through the seven phases of the EWH Development Framework and complete a series of exercises to assess what a workforce housing development might look like in their community. They will leave the bootcamp with a completed early assessment workbook and an action plan on how to continue exploring the concept.
Why Attend?
- A Long-Term Solution for Fiscal and Operational Health: Providing housing is a proven strategy for recruiting and retaining staff, which is the largest portion of your budget. Reducing staff turnover saves the money, time, and energy that goes into recruiting, hiring and onboarding new hires.
- Stable Staffing Improves Student Outcomes: Providing employees with lower-cost local housing reduces staff turnover and stress and fosters better learning environments.
- Build a Roadmap: You will leave with tools, resources, and clear next steps to create momentum and gain community support.
What Participants Will Receive
By the end of the bootcamp, participants will have:
- A completed early assessment workbook that includes:
- A staff housing “Why” statement
- A draft demand estimate
- A high-level overview of potential sites and funding sources
- A political landscape map of local partners and champions
- A clear list of actionable next steps
- An understanding of the complete pathway to develop educator workforce housing
