CSBA PACER Program Overview
The Public Affairs and Community Engagement Representatives (PACERs) serve as CSBA’s liaisons to local school district and county boards of education, key decision-makers and the community at-large. PACERs are responsible for implementing CSBA’s grassroots program, establishing relationships with trustees and facilitating local and regional outreach and activation efforts.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establish communication between CSBA and local educational agencies
- Facilitate stronger relationships between board members, other “electeds,” community leaders, etc.
- Help increase CSBA member participation and advocacy
- Strengthen CSBA member networking via local convenings, county association meetings and other group discussions
- Assist in fundraising for the CSBA PAC, including networking with potential donors and working with CSBA members on local fundraising efforts
- Connect members to CSBA services and training
- PACERs are liaisons to but do not work for directors or delegates
- PACERs do not engage in local board elections or school board fundraising
Collaborating with your PACER
Working with your PACER can be beneficial for collaborating on projects like division-, region- and county-level meetings, issue specific roundtable discussions, joint-district school board meetings, local legislative advocacy and CSBA PAC events. These engagement opportunities bring school board members closer to CSBA, help connect CSBA leaders to one another and push CSBA’s governance agenda forward.
