Robert Tuerck

Chief Legal Counsel, District and County Offices Legal Services 

Robert “Bob” Tuerck joined CSBA as Senior Policy Consultant in September 2014, served as the Assistant Executive Director of Policy and Governance Technology Services overseeing CSBA’s sample policies and GAMUT programs from 2017-2021, and now serves as the Chief Legal Counsel. Tuerck provides legal advice and representation to school districts and county offices of education on education issues and also provides guidance for the Education Legal Alliance supporting CSBA’s members in litigation and issues of statewide significance to California school districts and county offices of education. 

Tuerck is an attorney licensed in California, Washington state, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal Court of Claims in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining CSBA, Tuerck was the founding partner of Jackson & Tuerck, a small law office in Plumas County that focused on environmental law and matters affecting families, children and the local community. Tuerck also served on the governing boards of the Plumas Unified School District and County Office of Education, and spent two years as the President of the Plumas County Bar Association.

Tuerck earned his Juris Doctorate from the Seattle University School of Law, where he graduated with honors, and also has a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in English. Outside of education, Bob's passions include his family, fly fishing, hiking and being outdoors.
