Kathryn Ramirez
Director-at-Large, Hispanic, Salinas Union HSD
Kathryn Ramirez, a member in the Salinas Union High School District, is the Director-at-Large, Hispanic for the California School Boards Association and was elected by the member of the Delegate Assembly in 2012.
Kathryn began her career in education as a teacher at a local College in Salinas where she first realized the need to improve public schools for students. This need, coupled with her desire to help students achieve, fueled her decision to run for public office. In November 2003, Ramirez began her public service career as a Trustee for the Salinas Union High School District and currently serves as the board President.
Kathryn has served as a member of the Salinas Union High School District's Education Foundation Board, Sunrise House Board, California State University Alumni Association Board, Monterey County Citizen's Corp Council, United Way of Monterey County's Council of Executives, Monterey County SELPA Board (Special Education Local Plan Areas) and California Latino School Board Association Board.
Kathryn is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration at Golden Gate University. She is a mother of two and has lived most of her life in Monterey County where she attended the local schools from elementary to college.
