Darrel Woo
Director, Region 6, Sacramento City USD
In May 2015, Darrel Woo, member of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education, became the Region 6 Director of the California School Boards Association, representing Alpine, El Dorado, Mono, Sacramento and Yolo counties.
A longtime member of CSBA’s Delegate Assembly, Woo served on many CSBA’s committees, including the Policy Platform Committee.
For the past four decades, he has served as a teacher, school board member, public official and community volunteer. He has also mentored and tutored many students in Sacramento and has founded a scholarship fund to help those with financial needs. In addition, he co-founded one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations committed to helping women and children who are victims of domestic violence and abuse.
Woo works for the State of California as a Senior Staff Counsel for the California Department of Insurance. He has a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and a Law Degree from Lincoln Law School.
He and his family had lived in Sacramento for over 44 years.
