AboutLeadership, organizational structure, benefits, and business partners and affiliates

CSBA's leadership is comprised of a Delegate Assembly, a Board of Directors and an Executive Committee. Members of leadership are nominated and elected each year.

Delegate Assembly

Members elect representatives from 21 geographic regions to the Delegate Assembly, which is made up of approximately 280 delegates and the Board of Directors. The Delegate Assembly is a vital link in the association’s governance structure and sets the general policy direction for the association. Working with local districts, county offices, the Board of Directors, and Executive Committee, delegates ensure that the association promotes the interests of school districts and county offices of education throughout the state.

Board of Directors

CSBA’s Delegate Assembly elects representatives to the Board of Directors, which includes 21 regional representatives, five directors-at-large, four officers and the California County Boards of Education president. Among other duties, the board is responsible for setting direction for CSBA by adopting the vision and mission and overseeing the corporate operations of the association.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the president, president-elect, vice president, immediate past president and CEO/executive director (ex officio). The officers serve for one year in each position and are elected by the Delegate Assembly at their meeting held directly before the CSBA Annual Education Conference. Among other duties, the Executive Committee is responsible for providing leadership between meetings of the Delegate Assembly and Board of Directors and acting as spokespersons on behalf of CSBA.
