Barbara Ryan
Board Member, Santee School District
Barbara Ryan serves as the Vice President for Government Affairs at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. She is responsible for the management and coordination of the hospital’s activities and relationships with political, governmental and legislative bodies. Prior to her employment at Rady Children’s Hospital, Ryan served as the Chief of Staff for State Senator Larry Stirling.
Ryan’s school board experience spans more than 35 years in the Santee School District in San Diego County. First elected to the Board of Education in 1979, she was reelected in 1981, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Her current term expires in December 2018. In 2003, she completed CSBA’s Masters in Governance program.
Because of her years of board experience combined with her experience in the field of governmental affairs, she joined the Masters in Governance faculty in 2015 as an instructor for the community relations and advocacy module.
