FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Who: California School Boards Association (CSBA) President Dr. Emma Turner
What: Press availability to coincide with the May 22 Rally for Public Education
When: 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22 on the Capitol Grounds – and throughout the day by phone
Press Contact: Troy Flint: tflint@csba.org; 415.902.8489

CSBA President Dr. Emma Turner, one of the featured speakers at the Rally for Education, will be available to the press throughout the day on Wednesday, May 22 and in a media scrum at 4:00pm on the north side of the Capitol grounds.

Among other topics related to public education, Turner will discuss CSBA’s Full and Fair Funding campaign and recent poll results showing that six out of ten likely California voters would support a ballot measure generating $11 billion to fund K-12 public schools and community colleges

CSBA is working with the Legislature to improve school funding and is hopeful that a legislative solution to the school funding crisis can be reached. If, however, the Legislature proves unwilling to move per-student funding from 41st in the nation to the national average and beyond, CSBA is prepared to introduce a ballot measure that will substantially increase funding for California schools.
