csba.org: Connect and rely on CSBA’s new website

As part of its corporate identity update project, CSBA has launched a new website. Launched at the end of February, the site features an updated and more intuitive navigation, a new design, a “My CSBA” section and more.

CSBA’s Communications and Information Technology team began the project in 2012 with the goal of modernizing and simplifying the website while developing a more intuitive way for users to find information.  Demands on the association’s website have grown dramatically since it was last redesigned in 2007, and as the site’s wealth of resources grew, finding needed information became more and more complex.

Months of research led to the final organization of the new site. Using a series of online organizational tests, the redesign team worked with CSBA members, staff and leadership to determine how to best organize and display information. The results include multiple information pathways, an organization that emphasizes the core work of the association as opposed to displaying work based on departments, and suggested links and resources on each page that allow visitors to dig deeper into topics they’re interested in.

Users will see the new organization strategy implemented throughout the site. One example is the new Advocacy section that contains legislative news, policy analysis and research, positions on legislation, communication tools, and updates from the Education Legal Alliance.

Resources at csba.org are combined under seven new menu tabs:

  1. About—Leadership, organizational structure, benefits, and business partners and affiliates
  2. Advocacy—Public, legislative and legal advocacy
  3. Training & Events—Learning opportunities, training sessions, professional development and meetings
  4. Products & Services—Products and services for governance teams, school districts and county offices of education
  5. Governance & Policy Resources—Research, guidance and services for effective school board governance
  6. Newsroom—CSBA news, blog posts, publications, research, and resources for news media
  7. My CSBA—Personalized information and resources for CSBA members only

‘My CSBA’

Users now have access to a password-protected portal on the website called “My CSBA,” which provides a host of members-only materials and information. My CSBA will allow members to view and update a personal profile, get information about committee assignments, see a schedule of trainings and events they’re registered for, and access services they subscribe to—like GAMUT Online and Agenda Online. An exclusive online community called Engage CSBA will launch this spring, allowing members to connect with other members. The user name and password needed to access My CSBA are the same ones currently used to register for CSBA events.

CSBA blog

The news cycle waits for no one, so CSBA has added a blog to its publications lineup that provides members with more updates, news, features and resources on a timely basis.  CSBA policy and legislative experts, communications staff and others will contribute to the CSBA blog to provide a well-rounded and robust offering of education news and perspectives. Readers can make comments on each entry and follow new posts through an RSS feed that delivers new material to a user’s email or various reader programs.

CSBA members are encouraged to visit csba.org and provide feedback, thoughts and comments on the new site by emailing webmaster@csba.org.
