Spotlight Sessions: ESEA, other issues

CSBA’s Annual Conference coming to San Francisco Dec. 2-4

No current issue in public education has generated more heat than the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the cornerstone of federal K-12 policy. Noted education expert Richard Rothstein will shed light on that hot issue in a 75-minute Spotlight Session at CSBA’s upcoming Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, starting at 8:30 Friday morning in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

A research associate with the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., Rothstein says the Obama administration’s ESEA “blueprint” retains many of the controversial features of ESEA’s current iteration, No Child Left Behind. He’ll preview the political issues involved in ESEA reauthorization, and he’ll discuss policy issues to consider when debate finally begins on a long-stalled reauthorization bill.

More Spotlight Sessions and a wealth of other informative events are scheduled throughout the Dec. 2-4 Annual Conference program, along with pre-conference presentations on Dec. 1.
