Mustering the decision-makers 

A number of organizations have convened experts and resources to help school leaders maximize their use of data. The following will provide a good start:

Improving School Board Decision-making: The Data Connection 
The resources at this site sponsored by the National School Boards Foundation include a 96-page workbook designed to help school board members understand how to better use data to inform their decisions.

 Data-driven Decision Making
The Consortium for School Networking launched the “Data-driven Decision Making Initiative: Vision to Know and Do” as a resource for key school decision-makers. The Web site offers publications, presentations, podcasts and other resources to help governance teams learn how to comb through the mounds of data available to them and use what they learn to personalize and individualize the learning process for their students.

Best Practices in Data-driven Decision-making
The Data Quality Campaign encourages state policymakers to improve the availability and use of high-quality education data to improve student achievement. At this Web site are tools and resources for building and using a robust data system, summaries of best practices and networking opportunities.
