Dr. Chuck Weis, PhD
Board Member, Hueneme ESD
Dr. Charles Weis brings a wealth of expertise to his role as a board member in the Hueneme Elementary School District for more than a decade and as an associate professor and chair of Educational Leadership at California State University, Channel Islands. As an associate professor, he imparts his knowledge and insights to master's and doctoral candidates in educational leadership.
Weis' contributions to CSBA include governance consulting services and Masters in Governance® training, where he shares his expertise in governance practices with educational leaders statewide.
His administrative experience spans over three decades in California school districts and county offices, including two decades as a superintendent. His has also served on numerous statewide committees and held prestigious positions such as president of the Association of California School Administrators and the California Charter Schools Association.
As a first-generation college student, Weis understands the transformative power of education firsthand. Beginning his career as a school psychologist, he has dedicated his professional life to advancing educational equity and excellence. Chuck's published research covers various topics including school district superintendents, district policy, gender bias in hiring, and educational program evaluation, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
Chuck earned his Ph.D. in educational policy and organizational studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a staunch advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in education, striving to create equitable opportunities for all students and educators.
