Learning and activities to animate Trade Show floor

Annual Education Conference coming to San Francisco Dec. 2-4

One of the enhancements to CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show in San Francisco’s Moscone Center this year will be a number of training events in a specially designated area right on the Trade Show floor near the CyberCafé, with staff members on hand to demonstrate the programs and techniques featured during each event, which will each last about an hour.

At 10 a.m. on the Annual Conference’s opening day Thursday, Dec. 2, two of CSBA’s governance consultants will discuss “Selecting the Best: Understanding the Superintendent Search,” to help governance teams approach the process of searching for their district’s key executive. That hourlong presentation will be immediately followed at 11:15 by representatives of CSBA’s Governance Technology and Manual Maintenance programs, whose “My Policy Manual is Online. Now What?” presentation will show members how to get the most from the CSBA service.

At 8:45 a.m. Friday, Policy Services staff will demonstrate how CSBA’s “AgendaOnline Helps to Save Resources”—including time, money and paper; at 10 a.m. that day, the policy team will present “The Board Policy Manual—a Tool for Effective Governance.”

Also on the technology front, CSBA marketing, technology and communications experts will be on hand at 3:30 p.m. Thursday to talk about using interactivity tools on the Internet in “The 101 of Web 2.0.” The presentation will be repeated at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

The rest of this year’s Trade Show floor will be livelier than ever, with demonstrations by trade union associations of what student apprentices can learn while earning an income.

Also, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday, and at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, cooking demonstrations will be offered by the executive chef of Revolution Foods, which provides nutrition education as part of the school lunch program. Onlookers will be offered samples of healthy foods prepared using fresh, home-style ingredients, and recipe cards will be available to try at home.

As always, other Trade Show exhibits will showcase the latest trends and developments in products and services, along with creative solutions to school-related issues.
