Join CSBA for the flagship three-day virtual legislative advocacy event connecting local school district and county board members with members of the California Legislature and their staff to shine light on the critical issues facing California’s schools. Recognized as one of the leading statewide educational advocacy events of the year, Legislative Action Week plays a key role in influencing vital budget and legislative issues.
CSBA staff will take care of everything from scheduling virtual meetings to providing advocacy training and talking points — all trustees have to do is log on!
What will the 2025 virtual Legislative Action Week look like?
Three days of meetings with your local state legislators
CSBA staff will schedule Zoom meetings with board members’ state legislators during the workday on March 11-13. Trustees will have the chance to meet with the Senators and Assembly members and staff who represent their district or county office of education to discuss the most pressing issues facing their local educational agency.
The timing of each meeting will depend on the schedule and availability of legislators and their staff. While CSBA will do its best to keep late-breaking changes or additions to schedules to a minimum, meeting times may be added or changed depending on the availability of state legislators.
Zoom platform
Meetings will be hosted via Zoom. CSBA staff will provide a calendar invitation and a Zoom link for each meeting, and each call will have a facilitator present to handle logistics and any troubleshooting.
Training, talking points and advocacy tips
CSBA’s Governmental Relations team will provide training and tips to help make the most of every meeting. In early March, CSBA will host a webinar reviewing suggested topics and talking points, best practices for meeting with legislators and their staff, and what to expect at a virtual advocacy event.
A virtual packet of materials will also be provided to help you get ready for Legislative Action Week, including a recording of the training webinar, talking points and tip sheets.
