The 2024 CSBA County Board Governance Workshop is a two-day training opportunity scheduled on Friday, March 8 – Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Embassy Suites in Sacramento, CA, about 15 minutes from the Sacramento airport. The workshop is designed to give county board members the confidence and tools to implement their objectives. County boards provide services to the state’s most vulnerable populations through juvenile court and county community schools, support county office initiatives, make decisions regarding charter school renewals and more — all of which require specific support to fulfill their governance duties.
The workshop will offer eight specialized sessions to support in-depth county-focused learning, from understanding the budget to the county board’s role in reviewing expulsion appeals. Specific sessions include “Transitional Working Group: The Road Towards Expanded County Services” featuring Monterey COE trustee John McPherson and Butte COE trustee Mike Walsh, “Charter School Renewals: It’s a 365 day thing” and “Understanding the County Budget: Tips for New and Seasoned Board Members."
