CSBA’s Governmental Relations department advocates on behalf of public education by bringing the unique Governance First perspective to those who pass laws that impact schools. The association’s legislative agenda is anchored on the Governance First, as effective local governance is foundational to sustaining a strong public education system and effective schools.
The association's legislative advocates analyze all bills and resolutions that impact K-12 public education and coordinate with CSBA’s Legislative Committee to formulate the association’s legislative positions on the most critical legislative proposals. Following the direction set by the Legislative Committee, CSBA’s legislative advocates represent the interests of its statewide members to the Legislature, governor, Congress, the White House and other regulatory agencies.
CSBA also provides board members with tools that echo the Governance First legislative agenda to ensure that all governance leaders’ voices are heard at the Capitol. CSBA members are invited to peruse and use the advocacy tools available in this section and through mycsba.org.
