Suzanne Kitchens Voted President-elect of the California School Boards Association
Pleasant Valley School District Trustee brings nearly two decades of education leadership experience to CSBA’s 2020 elected leadership team
SACRAMENTO, Calif., (December 10, 2019) – Delegates from throughout the state have chosen Pleasant Valley School District Trustee Suzanne Kitchens as President-elect of the California School Boards Association (CSBA), an organization representing more than 1,000 California school districts and county offices of education.
Kitchens, also an Executive Committee member for the Ventura County Schools Boards Association, is now in her 18th year as a school board member. Kitchens has previously served as President of the Pleasant Valley School District Board and has been an active member of CSBA for nearly two decades. She has held roles as a CSBA Director and Delegate, and as a member of the Nominating, Legislative, Annual Conference, Board Development, Bylaws, Compensation Review, and Education Legal Alliance committees. Kitchens, who is a tax accountant by trade, has also chaired CSBA’s Finance and Audit Committees and graduated from the association’s Masters in Governance program.
"I was educated in the largest school district in our state, Los Angeles Unified, and currently represent a region that has a combination of small and large districts with different challenges and opportunities,” Kitchens said. “In my role on CSBA’s elected leadership team, I will work to ensure that we meet the needs of all students by securing the funding and resources needed to provide a comprehensive, high-quality education for every member of California’s diverse student population.”
Joining Kitchens in CSBA’s elected leadership are President Xilonin Cruz-Gonzalez of the Azusa Unified School District and Vice President Dr. Susan Heredia of the Natomas Unified School District. Dr. Emma Turner of the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District will serve as Immediate Past President.
CSBA is a nonprofit association representing nearly 1,000 PreK-12 school districts
and county offices of education throughout California.
