Mission Statement

The mission of the Tri-Valley ROP is to:

  • Educate and train a broad spectrum of students by providing a bridge of opportunity connecting school to continuing education and career.
  • Support and guide the development of life and career skills valued by business, industry, colleges and society.
  • Provide an environment of continuous program improvement, responsive to the changing needs of students, employers and industry.

The Program

The Tri-Valley ROP was founded as a joint powers agreement between the Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton and Sunol Unified School Districts in 1972. The intent of the ROP and its programs are to provide quality career preparation and technical education opportunities. The programs are governed by a Board of selected elected representatives of the school districts represented. An advisory board of district representatives assists the governing board and superintendent in the development and implementation of programs. Current ROP registration/ADA is 820.

The Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program offers a variety of ROP classes for high school juniors and seniors that develop skills necessary for employment success. ROP classes are designed to sequence directly into business, industry and/or continuing education following the completion of high school. These classes are career-technical offerings and students are able to earn credit in the same manner as other high school elective classes.

Currently, classes for high school students are offered at Amador, Dublin, Foothill, Granada, Livermore, Valley and Village High Schools. Classes are also offered at TV Channel 30, the Dublin-San Ramon Services District Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility and the Dublin Beauty College. The Tri-Valley ROP is also contracted by the Alameda County Jail at Santa Rita to operate their educational program.

ROP Course offerings are offered in the following areas: Agriculture/Scientific Technology, Child Development, Communications Technology, Computer Technology and Applications, Criminal Justice, Health, Industrial Technology, Marketing and Management, Personal Services and Science Technology. ROP courses are based on current and future labor market demands.

Our course offerings have been developed to integrate academic and occupational competencies by infusing applied mathematics, communication and/or principles of technology into them as well as integrating School-To-Career guidelines and state standards.

Our ROP students may earn community college credit by exam and receive credit from Las Positas College, Chabot College and Modesto Junior College.

Adult enrollment is welcome in two of our ROP programs; Water Pollution Control and Cosmetology/manicurist.
