AEC provides compelling leadership training, inspiration for thousands

At  CSBA's Annual Education Conference and Trade Show 2016, school leaders participated in a range of professional development workshops and table talks, including governance training, legal issues, school finance and facilities, Common Core State Standards, LCFF and accountability, and many more topics.

General Session speakers included John Maeda on the intersection of design and the technology and Michael Eric Dyson on the importance of developing informed, engaged students. Actor and activist Edward James Olmos also made a special appearance to discuss the role of arts in education. The final session featured a two-part format. In the first part, Christopher Emdin provided thought-provoking insight on the importance of innovative STEM education programs. In the second, CSBA Executive Director and CEO Vernon M. Billy moderated a panel discussion on STEAM education, with former astronauts José Hernández, Mae Jemison, and current NASA astronaut Victor Glover. In addition, attendees had the opportunity to interact on the CSBA trade show floor with partners, sponsors and vendors to learn about new and innovative services. School district leaders from around the state were also honored for outstanding programs at the Golden Bell awards ceremony.
