Agents of Influence is a spy-themed, media literacy videogame about making informed choices in a digital era. Students play as freshmen at a fictional high school. Topics covered include echo chambers, social media, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Core skills taught are critically reading/analyzing media, researching claims online, and empathetically communicating with outpartisans. The game aligns with standards in SEL, ELA, Social Studies, Science and Technology. For grades 6-10, flexibly designed for a variety of classrooms and out-of-school use. Alterea, the parent company, also designs custom videogames and uses the power of interactive storytelling to create engaging, impactful educational experiences.
BrightLife Kids — a CalHOPE program by Brightline — supports the mental health of families who live in California with children aged 0–12. Offering free, easy-to-access, virtual mental health support (in 19 languages and with no referrals needed!), BrightLife Kids has on-demand digital resources, care coordination to outside resources, and personalized counseling from experts who are trained in cultural competency and have experience working with LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and gender-diverse populations. When kids learn how to express their feelings in healthy ways, everyday struggles and big emotions like sadness or worrying become more manageable — which helps both at home and in the classroom.
CalHOPE Youth is an innovative virtual behavioral health program developed by the California Department of Health Care Services in collaboration with Kooth. Currently in its early-access phase, it is set to roll out statewide under the name 'Soluna' in early 2024. The platform is available on both iOS and Android, providing youth and young adults aged 13-25 with immediate access to a comprehensive mental health toolkit, community support, resources, and journaling—all at no cost to the user, their parents, or their school.
